Born and raised in Southeast Queens, Ty Hankerson is a gifted speaker, thinker and servant-leader. His life’s mission is to impact as many people as possible helping them reach their highest potential and destiny. Ty recognized his gift early on and with the help of many mentors, family and friends- he pushed passed societal limitations and expectations and advanced into his calling. Ty has had the privilege to inspire thousands of people through public speaking and community work. Most recently Ty was noted for being a co-organizer, along with his Pastor and church, of the Code Black Protest on Jamaica Avenue in Queens, NY, which garnered national attention on media outlets such as CNN, ABC, NY Post, TheShadeRoom and others, being highlighted by the New York State Governor and the New York City Mayor, as it was the first time the NYPD took a symbolic ‘knee’ with protestors. Ty has had the honor to serve as a Director with the Southern Queens Park Association (Roy Wilkins Park) empowering youth, a board member on the Queens Hospital Center Community Advisory Board, and a member of the Jamaica Now Leadership Council as appointed by the Queens Borough President. Ty is truly a SERVANT at heart and by calling and currently serves as the Campus Leader for the Excelling Church Queens Campus, and District Director of Community Outreach for New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams.
